Juan Pablo Carranza is an experienced Argentine sailing coach with more than 25 years of experience in competitive sailing and athlete development. As both a sailor and coach, he has dedicated his career to helping young athletes achieve success while fostering a lifelong passion for the sport.
As a competitor, Juan Pablo won multiple national championships in Argentina and competed at a high level in the Optimist, Laser, 29er, and other performance sailing classes. His experience as an athlete provides him with a deep understanding of the technical, tactical, and mental aspects of competitive sailing.
Throughout his coaching career, Juan Pablo has worked with leading sailing programs in the United States and South America, specializing in Optimist, ILCA, Club 420, 29er, and multihull classes. He has coached sailors who have gone on to qualify for national teams, win continental championships, and compete at world-class events.
Juan Pablo has been selected by the United States Optimist Dinghy Association (USODA) to coach U.S. sailors at international championships and development programs, including the USODA Development Team, the Horizons Program, and international Optimist events in Europe. These appointments reflect the trust and recognition he has earned within the sailing community for his coaching expertise and commitment to athlete development.
Known for his positive coaching style and personalized approach, Juan Pablo emphasizes technical excellence, tactical awareness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth. At Key Biscayne Yacht Club, he is committed to helping sailors build confidence, develop strong sailing fundamentals, and reach their full potential both on and off the water.
