ROUND THE ISLAND REGATTA
51ST ANNIVERSARY
NOVEMBER 18TH, 2017
  In memory of Ed Willman

Started in 1966, the race has been held in memory of Past Commodore Ed Willman of the Key Biscayne Yacht Club. The Round the Island Regatta is a fun, competitive event that engages sailboats of all sizes in a race from the waters of Biscayne Bay in front of the Key Biscayne Yacht Club, south through the Stiltsville featherbeds and past Cape Florida, north along the Atlantic coast of Key Biscayne, around a mark at the opening of Bear Cut at the north of the island, and back to the Key Biscayne Yacht Club.

We want to invite sailors from all over the world to participate in this regatta.

"The Banshee and its distinctive logo were pictured in 1978  in the newspaper of Communist Cuba, Granma, on the occasion of  a Miami-to-Havana race. Willman, an avid ocean racer who died in a sailing accident a number of years ago, was an ardent advocate for sailboat racing and a stalwart of the Key Biscayne Yacht Club for many years." By KBT Staff, Key Biscayne Times.

Jack Fischer, a crew member of the Banshee, made the following detailed accounts of two of the voyages/races that Ed Willman, Skipper of the Banshee, participated in:
